Sheryl Crow
Bolder and more free-spirited than ever, Sheryl Crow embarks on paths both deeply personal and grandly global on Detours (Interscope/A&M Records). Filled with songs about having and holding, changing and letting go, about beginnings, endings and the roads between them, Detours was inspired by "how I feel things are going in the world and what's happened to me the last couple of years," according to the nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter.
Crow's lyrical signposts range from the demise of a relationship, the adoption of a child (baby Wyatt, who guests on "Lullaby For Wyatt"), a public bout with breast cancer to the war in Iraq ("Peace Be Upon Us," featuring Arabic lyrics sung by Ahmed Al Hirmi), environmental disaster ("Gasoline," featuring Ben Harper) and the ravaged New Orleans of Hurricane Katrina ("Love Is Free").
Marking her reunion with Bill Bottrell, who produced her sensational 1993 debut, Tuesday Night Music Club, Detours wends its way across the pop musical landscape from the rockin' "Shine Over Babylon" and acoustic folk "God Bless This Mess" to the plaintive "Diamond Ring." An out-of-the-blue telephone call from Crow prompted a reconciliation with Bottrell and brought him to the studio at her farm near Nashville to produce her sixth studio album.
Each of her previous studio albums has charted top 10 and earned at least platinum certification. The seven-times platinum Tuesday Night Music Club hit #3 and earned three Grammys -- Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the classic "All I Wanna Do." The album also featured "Strong Enough," "Can't Cry Anymore" and "Leaving Las Vegas."
1996's triple platinum Sheryl Crow (#6) earned the Grammy for Best Rock Album and, for "If It Makes You Happy," Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. 1998's platinum The Globe Sessions (#5) also garnered the Best Rock Album Grammy, as its "Everyday Is A Winding Road" and "My Favorite Mistake" both reached the pop top 20.
The new millennium brought 2002's platinum C'mon C'mon (#2), whose gold "Soak Up The Sun" peaked in the top 20, and "Steve McQueen" again nabbed her a Best Female Rock Vocal Performance Grammy. The 2003 greatest hits compilation, the four-times platinum The Very Best of Sheryl Crow, was also a #2 charter, featuring a new recording, a cover of Cat Stevens' "The First Cut Is The Deepest." 2005's platinum Wildflower (#2) featured the duet "Always On Your Side" with Sting.
On Detours, the fearlessly outspoken Sheryl Crow continues a journey of self-discovery that has increasingly appealed to both the head and the heart.
Tim Love
Chef/Owner - The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, The Love Shack
The unofficial mayor of Fort Worth, Texas, Tim Love has become a nationally recognized culinary personality, known as much for his freewheeling personality as his signature urban Western cuisine. As chef and owner of The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro and The Love Shack in Fort Worth, he's as comfortable cooking for the Dallas Cowboys as he is for his own kids, and his inspired and innovative dishes have earned critical and popular acclaim.
A Denton, Texas, native, Love spent his summers growing up on his father's farm, where he was schooled in all elements of farming, growing everything from apples to zucchinis and raising animals of all sizes. Those summers instilled in Love a deep appreciation for how food makes the trip from farm to table, and ultimately led Love to pursue a life in the kitchen. While earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee, Love worked in restaurants and learned both front and back of house operations. After college, Love worked in kitchens across the country and ultimately settled back in Texas.
When Love opened The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in 2000, he was met with overwhelming success. The restaurant, with its locally sourced selection of steaks, game, seafood and fine wines, has consistently achieved the highest Zagat rating of any restaurant in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. The Lonesome Dove's popularity also introduced Love to a national audience, and with that developed his reputation as a veritable "meat master." Whether he was demonstrating how to grill a whole lamb, offering tailgating tips for burgers and steaks, or showing people how to make the perfect pork chop, Love quickly became his fans' go-to source for advice on all things meat.
In 2007, Love opened a classic burger joint called The Love Shack -- a casual outdoor spot adjacent to The White Elephant Saloon, another Love property, in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards district. The Love Shack was another instant hit, earning three stars from The Dallas Morning News, being singled out as having the "most perfect burger on the planet" by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and was named by Conde Nast Traveler as a 2008 Hot List restaurant. In July 2009, he opened a second location of The Love Shack, and it has already become a new Fort Worth favorite.
Through his restaurants and his work in the community for such causes as the March of Dimes and Spoons Across America, Love has become the de facto culinary ambassador for the state of Texas, always doing his fans proud. Love has also conducted two traditional, cross-country "trail drives," stopping at farms and greenmarkets throughout the U.S. on horseback and spreading the word about the importance of local farming and ingredients. Wherever he goes, his charm and genuine Southern hospitality are always on display, and guests love watching Love cook, whether it's in The Lonesome Dove's open kitchen or with Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Top Chef Masters and Iron Chef America.
When he's not busy working in the kitchen or developing his line of cooking products, Love can be found spending time with his wife, Emilie, and their three children.
