NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- Justin Rose answered every question thrown his way Sunday at the AT&T National and won his second tournament in four weeks, this time by one shot over hard-charging Ryan Moore at rugged Aronimink Golf Club.
Rose closed with an even-par 70 to hold off Moore, who finished with a 5-under 65. Rose's rounds of 69-64-67-70 and total of 10-under 270 proved to be just enough for him to record the second PGA Tour victory of his career.
Rose also won the Memorial Tournament the first week of June and had a chance to win the Travelers Championship last week, but faltered after carrying a 3-shot lead on the last day.
"I was a little worried about that, but I tried to stay within myself and my rhythm," said Rose, 29.
Rose began the day with a four-shot lead and increased it to five shots when he eagled the ninth, but he had back-to-back, three-putt bogeys at the 10th and 11th before steadying himself and finishing with seven consecutive pars.
"I probably made it a little closer than it needed to be," he said.
Jeff Overton finished with a 3-under 67 and wound up third at 8-under 272. Fourth place belonged to Charlie Wi, who finished with a 1-under 69, and J.B. Holmes' 4-under 66 moved him into fifth place.
The victory was worth $1.116 million to Rose.
