AT&T National pays tribute to military in Philadelphia

Spectators can show support for troops by participating in week-long initiatives

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- Philadelphia, home of the Declaration of Independence and our most revered Constitution, is the ideal place to honor the brave men and women who serve our country in the U.S. military. The AT&T National golf tournament, held for the last time at the beautiful Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., will once again give military members and their families a Fourth of July weekend to remember.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), a proud supporter of the armed forces and their families, will serve as the tournament's military partner for 2011. Spectators attending the AT&T National can show their support for the troops by participating in the week-long initiatives such as assembling a care package for the troops or writing encouraging notes on this year's new feature, the We Salute Our Heroes military tribute wall located at the main entrance.

Military Tickets: beginning on June 8, the AT&T National will distribute 30,000 complimentary tickets to members of the U.S. military. Tickets will be distributed by the OSD/JS Welfare & Recreation Association on a first come, first serve basis to local ITT/ITR offices located within a 150 mile radius of the Aronimink Golf Club. Tickets are available to all military personnel who are active duty, reserve, retired, National Guard, dependents, civilians or members of the Coast Guard. Each person is allowed a total of four (4) tickets, valid for any one day, Wednesday, June 29- Sunday, July 3.

Military Care Package Tent: Located at the main entrance, fans are encouraged to visit the Military Care Package Tent to build care packages for troops deployed overseas. Due to the incredible support of Lockheed Martin and thousands of AT&T National fans, the tournament was able to pack a total of 6,728 care packages last year and hope to reach 7,000 this year. Lockheed Martin again invites tournament guests to show support for our armed forces serving in harm's way by preparing a care package.

We Salute Our Heroes: The We Salute Our Heroes tribute wall, located at the main entrance of the tournament grounds, will give spectators the opportunity to sign their name in support of our troops, or write a personal note of thanks to our military heroes past and present. Following the tournament, sections of the tribute wall will be delivered and displayed in military locations throughout Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Lockheed Martin Military Pavilion: Located at the 17th hole, the Lockheed Martin Military Pavilion will be open to the first 5,000 military ticket holders Wednesday to Sunday of tournament week. This climate controlled pavilion will provide complimentary snacks and beverages, as well as a great view of the 17th tee.

Military Caddies: On Wednesday, June 29, 26 active duty military members hailing from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland will act as caddies for PGA TOUR players at the 17th hole during the AT&T National Pro-Am. They will be wearing their special military camouflage bibs!

Military Starters/Announcers: Sixteen military members from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard will serve as starters on the No. 1 and No 10 tees during the week. In addition, on Sunday, two military representatives will be stationed near the 18th green to recognize the players as they complete their 72nd hole.

Challenge Coins: Each year, the AT&T National produces a commemorative coin to honor all five branches of the military - the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. This year's one-of-a-kind coin, given to players and their caddies by the Military Starters, will feature the Philadelphia skyline engraved with the words "We the People."

Although the AT&T National honors the US Military throughout the week, Saturday, July 2, has been designated Military Day. While players and caddies will wear special pins in support of our US Military, fans can get in on the action by sporting their favorite camouflage or patriotic-inspired article of clothing. Additionally, the first 100 fans to enter at the main entrance will receive a military pin to wear at the tournament.

The AT&T National, held June 28-July 3, will welcome 120 of the PGA TOUR's finest players at the 7,237-yard course in Newtown Square. Players including Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Sean O'Hair, K.J. Choi, Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover and defending champion Justin Rose, will compete for the $6.2 million purse. In addition to honoring the military, the tournament will work to raise funds and awareness for two youth-based organizations in the Philadelphia area, The Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia and The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, as well as continue to support the college access programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation.
