Due to the tremendous success of the Tiger Woods: My Swing app at the Learning Center, Tiger and the Foundation have donated 50,000 copies to The First Tee!
An international youth organization, The First Tee reinforces values like integrity, respect and perseverance by introducing the game of golf to young people in elementary schools, on military installations and on golf courses.
The donation will provide copies of the swing-analysis app to every First Tee chapter in the United States. Now, coaches, participants and their families can benefit from My Swing's unique capabilities. With Tiger Woods as virtual coach, there's no reason why any young golfer can't improve his or her game.
Tiger offered his reasoning for the donation: "I've gotten a lot out of this mobile technology, and we've seen similar results with the students at our Learning Center," he said. "Although it's based on my practice routine, we designed it to be accessible for all skill levels, and I hope the kids and coaches in The First Tee enjoy using the technology. After the success we've had at the Learning Center, I think it's a tool that can help a lot of young golfers advance to the next level."
The best app of its kind, Tiger Woods: My Swing was voted one of the Best Sports Apps of 2011. The app allows users to capture video of their swing, analyze it, compare it to Tiger's and their friends', and keep track of how their swing improves over time. Tiger offers virtual instruction, teaching users how to use the app's swing-line analysis feature while providing tips on specific areas of improvement. First Tee participants will not only have free access to the app, but also the entire interactive golf community at Golfshot.com.
Tiger Woods: My Swing is currently available for iOS devices in 12 languages with proceeds benefitting the Tiger Woods Foundation and its programs. Download your copy of the app here.
