The Tiger Woods Foundation would like to thank Popular Community Bank for their generous sponsorship of the Tiger Woods Learning Center Recruitment Day. The event held on Saturday, Sept. 15, was a great success! More than 400 parents and prospective students spent the day sampling free, interactive classes that will be offered at the Learning Center this fall.
Vern Aguirre, Popular Community Bank's California Region Executive said that the Bank's first experience of the Tiger Woods Learning Center happened this past February. While holding a Road Show event at the TWLC, bank representatives were given a tour of Tiger's state-of-the-art education facility in Anaheim, Calif.
Impressed, Aguirre said, "I think it's great to have something like that in our community. It's great to have someone like Tiger Woods to be so involved- to be someone who provides support for kids anxious to learn and to provide opportunity for them. We were very pleased to see different aspects of that at the Learning Center."
When it came to sponsoring TWLC's Recruitment Day, Aguirre said it was a no-brainer. TWLC's efforts aligned with Popular Community Bank's philanthropic intent. "At the bank, we sponsor a lot of organizations that involve education. We're very much involved with helping organizations that help young people to either get into college or prepare them for it. We're glad to be a proud sponsor of TWLC's Recruitment Day. Glad to have the opportunity to participate. We're always looking for ways to demonstrate our support for improving the community."
Due to the tremendous support from Popular Community Bank, the TWLC once again hosted an interactive Recruitment Day career exploration workshop, an informative activity fair and fun drawings and prizes for interested families. The career workshops included engineering, golf, robotics, universal science, forensic science and performing arts. In addition to receiving free career exploration classes in the fall, those who registered also gain access to academic support, college preparation workshops and the latest tools and gadgets in the Learning Center's Computer Clubhouse.
