Requirements
- Organizations must be tax exempt under Section 501c and not under 509a as a private foundation.
- Organizations must file a 990 Form with the IRS at the end of each fiscal year.
- Organizations must have IRS qualifying public support of over $100,000 from the preceding year.
- Organizations must have been in existence for at least one year.
- Organization's overall personnel costs must be less than 49% of its total functional expenses.
- Organization's programmatic personnel costs must be less than 49% of its total programmatic budget.
We do fund:
- College preparation programs.
- Community service programs.
- Programs that enhance education and youth development for children ages 8-18.
- Programs that develop self-esteem and positive values.
- Volunteer-based mentoring and tutoring programs.
- Year-round transitional programs for youth to become productive adults.
We do not fund:
- Athletic teams.
- Annual-fund drives or fundraising events.
- Capital projects: equipment, construction or renovation of buildings
- Endowment funds.
- General operating support.
- Individuals.
- Junior Golf programs.
- Organizations outside of our geographic focus.
- Organizations that discriminate unfairly because of age, race, gender, handicap or ethnicity.
- Personnel: staff positions, staff benefits, salaries, stipends, etc.
- Pilot programs: programs under a year old.
- Programs that are not year-round.
- Public schools.
- Public services, such as police or fire protection.
- Publications or audiovisual projects.
- Research projects.
- Religious organizations that solely benefit its own members or adherents and not a larger community.
- Travel or transportation.
- Umbrella organizations -- organizations that are not 501c3, but have a fiscal sponsor that is.
Grant Dates:
There are four grant cycles per year, and grants are awarded every quarter. If you submit a grant application after one cycle has closed, your application will be considered during the next cycle. All grants must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by the deadline dates listed below:
