Career Orientation Program
The TWLC Career Orientation Program (COP) provides fifth-grade students and their teachers with an interactive, innovative learning experience.
Crime Lab 101 is a series of lessons that teach students about forensic science as a career, providing them with a variety of hands-on activities such as fingerprinting, DNA analysis, microscope use and chromatography. Marine Science gives students an opportunity to discover all aspects of ocean life, including exploration of oceanic regions, squid dissection, analysis of sand samples and marine-life classification.
While students participate in these interactive science and technology workshops, their classroom teacher receives professional development focused on the skills needed to recreate the TWLC experience in their own classrooms. Training demonstrates ways to incorporate positive youth development, science and the use of technology in a regular classroom environment.
To Apply
The Career Orientation Program is open to students entering the fifth and sixth grade in the fall. If you're interested in applying to the COP, please download the

Career Exploration Program
Hey, middle and high school students! Have you ever thought of becoming a marine biologist or ever wondered, "What's so important about genetics?" Would you like to build your own robot and direct it with a remote control? If so, then the Career Exploration Program (CEP) is for you! Recognize your potential and identify your interests through a hands-on learning experience. You will have access to advanced technology to help you complete homework and conduct research.
You can choose from over 50 different careers such as marine biology, environmental integrity, aerospace rocketry, biotechnology and business entrepreneurship. This special curriculum provides opportunities to learn about careers through technology and hands-on projects. For instance, students enrolled in veterinary medicine perform dissections, analyze X-rays and have the opportunity to visit a nearby pet hospital and observe a pet examination!
That's not all! Just by being a member of the TWLC, you will have access to many other features like SAT preparation, academic support, financial aid, speaker series and field trips. Now is the time for you to think about your future, and the CEP is here to help you make your ultimate career goals come true!
